Fancy Dinner Out

Was anyone else intrigued by Britt’s post on Mackie’s Bar & Grill last month?  It sounds like Mackie’s might be the new go-to steakhouse in Old Town.  Lucky for our employee Sarah, she will be enjoying a romantic Valentine’s night out at this new hot spot.

The details: Mackie’s will be offering a 3-course Valentine’s dinner that includes a bottle of champagne.  The special appetizer is escargot and the main course is veal — but you will still be able to order off the main menu.  For those of you who want to celebrate early, no worries.  Mackie’s will be offering their Valentine’s dinner Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!

We love this Nicole Miller dress for an elegant night out in Alexandria.  The shallow V-neck keeps it classy, while adding a flirtatious touch by showing off the décolletage. Pair with one of our stylish black booties and you’re ready to hit the town.

Casual Dinner Out

Sometimes there is just so much hullabaloo surrounding Valentine’s Day that some people just want to enjoy a beloved restaurant close to home.  Evening Star is one of Tracy’s all-time favorite Del Ray spots, and with their special four-course Valentine’s Day dinner for $69 (per person), it is a no-brainer for this weekend.

This Waverly Gray blouse paired with a fur vest, coated denim, and black flats is a trendy look but still casual enough for Evening Star.  And how fun is this leather bracelet?  We know she will be kicking off her shoes when she gets to snuggle up on the sofa with her husband and a movie! (I suggest The Intern!)

Eating In

Sometimes eating out is just more hassle than it is worth, especially on Valentine’s Day. Danielle and her husband love spending quiet nights in cooking so I gave her one of my all-time favorite recipes to impress her hubby with.  As a bourbon lover, I know her husband is sure to love this Sweet Bourbon Pork Tenderloin dish.  It is super simple so she can enjoy time spent with her husband rather than working in the kitchen all day.

Pork Tenderloin Marinade

½ cup soy sauce

½ cup bourbon

3 tsp brown sugar

Allow pork to marinate throughout the day, bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.  Serve with a salad and asparagus risotto — I cheat and pick mine up from the grocery! For special occasions (such as Valentine’s Day!), I like to pick up a treat from Happy Tart for dessert.

The most important part of staying in is being comfortable!  However, I’m sure most husbands do not want to see us in our nightly staple of tennis shoes, workout pants, and Coatology vest.  If you plan on staying in try our Paige jeans and Johnny Was velvet top. They are super comfortable so you can cook and lounge around yet still impress your loved one.
